How can I book an appointment?
You can book easily online via arzt-direkt using the appointment button. There you can choose the appointment that suits you. Alternatively, you can contact us by email or phone to clarify questions and schedule your appointment.
How does telemedicine care work?
For patients who live farther away, we offer telemedicine care. Diagnostic kits for blood and microbiome analyses can be sent to you by post. Your family doctor can take blood samples, which you then send to the laboratory. Urine and stool samples can also be sent by post, so the required diagnostics can be completed conveniently from home.
How does genetic analysis (SNPs) for health optimization work?
Genetic analysis examines single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), small genetic variations that can influence how your body responds to nutrients, medications and environmental factors. With a simple DNA test that you can do at home, we gain insights into your genetic predisposition. We use this information to create an individualized health plan.
I have statutory health insurance. Can I still come to you?
Yes, you can come to us even if you have statutory health insurance. However, you will need to cover the costs yourself as a self-paying patient. Depending on your budget, we will find the right approach and diagnostics together.
How many appointments do I need for functional treatment?
Depending on the complexity of your health concerns, several appointments may be needed. For chronic or autoimmune conditions, regular sessions are usually helpful to monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan.
Will private health insurance cover the costs?
In many cases, private health insurance may reimburse part of the treatment costs, especially laboratory tests. Please check in advance which services your insurance covers.
What happens during the first visit?
During the first visit, we take time for a detailed medical history and discuss your health history, lifestyle and nutrition. We then clarify which diagnostics are needed and schedule a follow-up appointment to review the results and create an individualized treatment plan.
How does a microbiome analysis work?
Microbiome analysis is performed using a test kit that you receive by post. After collecting the sample, you send it back to the laboratory. The analysis takes about 14 days. We then discuss the results together and use them to support your digestive and immune systems.
Functional Medicine
What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine focuses on the causes of illness, not only on symptoms. It looks at the body as an integrated system influenced by nutrition, lifestyle and genetic factors. The aim is to optimize long-term health and address disease preventively.
Can functional medicine help with autoimmune diseases?
Functional medicine can be useful in the care of autoimmune diseases. It looks at possible drivers of inflammation and supports immune-system regulation by taking nutrition, lifestyle and genetic factors into account.
Which laboratory tests are common in functional medicine?
Common tests include blood, urine and hair-mineral analyses, microbiome analyses and heavy-metal testing. These tests help create a broader picture of your health and support targeted treatment planning.
How much do supplements cost?
The cost of supplements depends on your individual situation. On average, monthly costs are usually between EUR 150 and EUR 300, depending on the complexity of your condition and your treatment plan.
Can functional medicine also be used as supportive care in cancer?
I also apply principles of functional medicine as supportive care for people with cancer. The focus is on nutrition, metabolism, inflammation regulation, gut health, micronutrient status, sleep and stress regulation. This is where functional medicine is particularly valuable: it works on the foundations of stability, resilience, tolerance and quality of life. A targeted nutrition strategy is a central part of this approach because it actively supports metabolism, gut health and immune function and meaningfully complements the overall medical strategy.
How do you currently use your knowledge of Chinese medicine?
I mainly use body practices such as Qi Gong myself and teach them to patients. These methods draw on traditional Chinese medicine and combine conscious breathing with gentle movement. They can help reduce stress and support the body’s energy flow. I also use selected medicinal herbs such as saffron or licorice root, which may have mood-supporting effects. In severe exhaustion, I may use more complex herbal formulas, but the foundation is always a sensible basis of optimized nutrition, movement and sleep.
What role does stress management play in functional medicine?
Stress management is a central part of functional medicine. Relaxation techniques, mindfulness and adjusted lifestyle habits can help lower stress levels and improve wellbeing. Qi Gong can be especially helpful here.
How long does treatment in functional medicine take?
Treatment duration varies depending on individual goals. Many patients notice improvements after a few months. In more complex cases, care may take longer in order to support lasting health improvements.
What is the role of movement in functional medicine?
Regular movement is an important part of functional medicine. It supports the immune system, metabolism and mental health. We develop an individual movement plan that fits your lifestyle.
How does functional medicine support mental health?
In recent years it has become increasingly clear how important metabolic health can be for mental wellbeing. A functional-medicine approach looks at factors such as mitochondrial health, metabolic flexibility and stable blood sugar. Food intolerances, leaky gut and chronic inflammatory signals may also affect emotional wellbeing. Many of these factors can often be addressed with simple measures and a holistic concept.
What is biohacking, and do I use it in my practice?
Biohacking essentially means optimizing the body and mind in creative ways. Even making a morning coffee can be a small form of biohacking. I use many methods myself, from methylene blue, cold exposure and bulletproof coffee to SNP testing, glucose tracking, water filtering and blue-light-blocking glasses. My Oura Ring also helps me optimize sleep. For me, however, the ultimate biohack remains the combination of enough sleep, species-appropriate nutrition and regular movement. These basics are also an important focus in my practice.
Who is functional medicine suitable for?
Functional medicine is suitable for people with chronic conditions, including autoimmune diseases, cancer, mental-health conditions and ADHD, as well as for anyone who wants to improve their health preventively. Not every condition changes completely with this approach, but many people notice improvements in their wellbeing, energy and quality of life. Functional medicine can also support a wide range of complaints, from digestive problems to hormonal imbalances.
What benefits does functional medicine offer?
Through an individualized approach, functional medicine supports health in a holistic way. It can help prevent disease and relieve existing complaints over the long term by addressing deeper causes instead of only treating symptoms.
What role does nutrition play in functional medicine?
Nutrition is a central part of functional medicine. Targeted dietary changes can help with complaints such as digestive problems, chronic inflammation and hormonal imbalances. Together we develop a nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle and supports your health.
